WPyogi is expiring

NOTICE: The domain name wpyogi.com is expiring soon. I will not be renewing it and the material on this site will no longer be available. I taught WordPress for many years and the material you see here was created years ago. I haven’t had the opportunity to maintain as well as I should have and there are now sites like Lynda.com who provide far better teaching material. I would encourage you to visit Lynda.com to find out more and if you are interested in the domain name, let me know.

Giving back to the WordPress community

Teaching is by far one of the best ways to hone your skills and give back to the community. However, one of the most difficult aspects is creating the required teaching material. Wouldn’t it be great if you could simply download someone else’s curriculum, slides and exercises? The following website intends to do just that. Aimed at WordPress teachers, I’ve gathered all of my notes, slides and tutorials and made them available for download.

Created originally for students enrolled in the Electronic Media Design Program at Langara College, the goal of the class is to educate web developers on how WordPress can be used to create an online portfolio.

This class is designed to be taught in 30 – 36 hours. This class also assumes that students are familiar with CSS and HTML. Knowledge of PHP is not required but very useful.

Once completed students should know:

  • How to install WordPress locally and on hosting provider
  • How to make a child theme
  • Understand the making of a WordPress and the function of each template
  • How to create a WordPress site

If you are a teacher, feel free to download the course material, read the tutorials and contact me if you have any questions or if you would like to contribute.
